A Friend Passing

The morning of January 31, 2015 around 7:30 I heard a voice scream "Nooooo" -pause- "Nooooo." I didn't know if it was a child or adult or male or female. I didn't know if kids were fighting or if a child was mad at its' parents. I thought it was weird, but I didn't hear it again and I was rushing to leave for school. (all of these thoughts went through my mind in about 3 seconds) so I continued getting dressed. I heard the same scream again and again. Then I heard this person scream "Somebody help me please, David! Nooooo!" I realized it was our neighbors wife screaming for help for her husband, our friend David. I threw on a bath robe, woke up my husband and ran downstairs. I ran to their garage across the alley. As I ran in I saw David's body lying on the ground unconscious. His wife, Carol, screamed "He's dying, help!" His mouth was open, bubbles and a thick, brownish tinted fluid had leaked out of his mouth and down the side of his face. He was struggling to breath and made a couple of painful sounds. I freaked out. I didn't know what to do. My husband, Josh, ran up seconds after me and turned David on his side. He asked his wife if anything was wrong. She said David had been complaining of chest pain. She was getting ready to drive him to the hospital, but David had already passed out. The neighbor next door came running over to help. David's wife was on the phone with 911. The neighbor took over on the phone and walked my husband through the steps to help save David. They had to drag David across his garage floor to get him to a larger area to resuscitate. Josh pumped his chest per emergency advice multiple times until the ambulance came and took over. The hospital attempted to perform surgery, but the clogged arteries were too far gone. David lost his pulse twice at the hospital during surgery. David fought to stay alive, the doctor's fought and my husband fought to help save our friend. The doctor's said Josh did everything he could aiding in the attempt to save our friend David and that he was given a chance of survival because of my husbands bravery. David was an amazingly talented individual. He was always positive and always said he had great days, never any bad days. He was a painter of many different mediums. His work is amazing and he put all of his pride and joy into creating each unique piece. He started from scratch by drawing and then painting each piece. Rest In Peace David Linton.
